In-Office lecture: Update on palatal TADs and CAD/CAM-Technologies
This two-day course takes place in the practice of Dr. Bettina Glasl and Dr. Björn Ludwig. In a small group, the course starts with lectures on the topics below, it includes a hands-on part with software training and also makes a stop at the “live” treatment of patients. Of course, a wine tasting should not be missing in the Moselle region, which enables personal exchange and getting to know each other as colleagues. Many orthodontic treatment goals, such as occlusion, esthetics, and function, have not changed all that much in the last few decades. In addition, the diagnostic and treatment spectrum - in terms of equipment and tools - has been greatly expanded. New high-tech tools and innovations promise to easily lead us to success. For example, the benefits of using skeletal anchorage - which have been achieved over the past two decades - are evident and the use of these small screws is widespread. Many well-functioning workflows have been established and solid biomechanics identified.
Scientifically, there is solid evidence regarding loss rate, insertion sites and risk factors. But the development of the use of TADs does not stop there! The digital age brings with it new and promising features. Starting with intraoral scans, CBCTs, virtual TAD placement, digital appliance design and finally 3D printing. Many clinical examples will be shown, current literature will be discussed, and a critical evaluation of these new procedures will conclude the lecture. Of course, demonstrating the tasks described above “live” on the patient is not neglected and you can also try out one or the other “tool” yourself.
